Today I either:

Rejoice and love our country.

Give up on democracy and never have faith in anything ever again.

But good god I can't stop smoking or pay attention to King Lear with all this hanging over my head. Class should be extra-non-attentive today because of this. Oh lawdy.

Fuck you Jury Duty. I'm never inviting you to any more parties again. You piss everyone off with your inane bullshit. When you don't even live up to what you promised you're a giant fucking let down. Don't stand me up for 8 hours again and leave me in the rain to catch a bus 10 minutes late and force me to pay 8 dollar parking when you promised it'd be on you.

Oh boy. Oh boy. I'm giving a speech on poetry. Oh boy. Oh boy.
But man, I can't stop reading this
I found my voice a few weeks ago, it looks like a teddy grizzly bear with horns and claws
and he lives at the end of the universe where the sticky membrane conceals us
from god or black holes.

I can't stop listening to Joanna Newsom. Her voice reminds me of a forest spirit who puts money under rocks after a hurricane and flies around with harp-power. Just don't make her angry, she'll steal your husbands with her enchanting vocal symphony.

I think the most I'll miss about this house is not the house itself but the surroundings. We got a tree spirit in our backyard from Africa, a bamboo forest, falcons, ruinous warehouses, train tracks, a corner store filled with people buying beer, weed, coke, pig's feet, faygo and candies.
Then there's the neighborhood kids who love Butchie to death, dirt roads, roosters and home made dead end signs.
So much character packed into this place. It's going to be a shame when I have to go back to the dominate white middle class culture of college campus. I have yet to meet an asshole in this neighborhood. I've learned more about race relations living here than I could possibly have otherwise.

I am excited to go down to Orlando though. I was going to miss the crazy times dearly. Only a few more weeks. Oh boy.

<lj-embed id="9" />

Two Truths?

Any one else ever feel like burning a ton of gas so you can drive around listening to loud music and sing/dance loud/crazy to yourself? Or how about leaving a pound of meat underneath someone's stoop? Me neither.

In other news a meteorite landed in my backyard and now I've opened a tourist exhibit:

Oh, by the way, John from Cincinnati is a damn good show. Everyone should watch it! Yay! Lollipops for all!

edit:
lil Wayne is coming to tally? Yes. But his tickets are $240. Whaaaaat?

double edit:
Joanna Newsom fucking kicks so much (so much) ass.

Initiate Declarative Statement:

Aint got shit to do with this, but I just thought that I should mention

I fucking love Lil Wayne. Seriously, best artist like ever.

So muthafuckas, 21st birthday went well. I mean, you know how it goes. I bought a bottle of Grey Goose. You know like the best Vodka money can buy. I bought myself a Flask, because you know how it goes. I think I am going to go to New Orleans next weekend. Every goddamn book I've been reading takes place there and muthafuckin Lil Wayne too. So like, I've been wanting to go for awhile right? and like you know I have some extra cash flow if you dig, and like you know I'm gonna go.

Buck Ten in the coupe, And your bitch love it
Switching lanes faster than she switch subjects

This Grey Goose is awesome, I'm never-ever-ever-ever-ever-nunca-ever drinking smear-n-off again. God damn shit taste like rubbing alcohol. (So I just realized how public my livejournal can be. Let's make an experiment here:

1. Take a Phrase that is uniquely yours from your LJ like say 2 years ago.
2. Search for it on google.
3. Your ENTRIES ARE OMG GOOGLEFIED).

Tell a bitch don't talk to me
And if you're talking to them niggas, don't talk for free
And I hate when a nigga say talk is cheap
Cuz im the type that let money talk for me

Guys, I did this performance in my poetry class and (get this) I played my accordion.
AND I wore my Harlequin mask, AND that awfully tacky velvet trench coat (some of you might remember this from winter break shindigger) and (get this) it was awesome. I killed this dude with my dagger (metaphorically) and everyone loved it. Total self-esteem booster if you can catch my drift in a jar.

My flow is art, unique
My flow can part a sea
The only thing on a mind of a shark, is eat
By any means, and you're just sardine

Also, I've been watching Spanish Soap Operas. They are amazing. I kid you not, young buck. This dude did some shit and everyone was sad. It was so poignant and shit. SERIOUSLY.

I got the 40 cal. Tucked in my p.r.ps.
What do you expect, I'm from New Orleans
And majority of my city is rowders,
They tried to make a brand new map without us
But the tourists come down and spend too many dollars
And no matter how you change it, it will still be ours

And, if you allow me to continue, (do you? [I mean really, you have to make the commitment first you know?]) I'll tell you secrets vast and orgiastic. "Y'all bitches in my hair like the fucking po-lice. " There it is. LOL jk! You guys rock.

And imma ride with my motherfuckin niggas
Most likely imma die with my finger on the trigga
Don't worry bout mine, imma grind till I get it
And tell all of my niggas that the sky is the limit
The sky is the limit

p.s. (please forgive my really lame entry with all that dissection with lyrics and the what not) bye.

4 reals + 1 = 5 reals. Word.

p.p.s.

<lj-embed id="7" />

p.p.p.s.
Being poor sucks. Living off oatmeal and grits for two days sucks. Having two dollars worth of gas in your tank to take you across town on more than one occasion sucks. Of course not having money to afford two dollars of gas or grits and oatmeal would suck even more, so at least I'm thankful for the oatmeal I do have.

So a thought has been streamin' through the ole noggin as of late. What, oh what, shall I do post college graduation? Doctoral studies are a must I know, but not quite directly after undergraduate studies. So I've come to the tentative conclusion to join the peace corps upon graduation for numerous reasons:

A) Will satiate, for a time, my desire to travel.
B) Will satiate my desire to get in touch with a non-western/American culture (On both a personal and anthropological level).
C) Will allow me to do something post-graduation at relatively little expense (since PC funds basic living in your country of destination).
D) Will give me mild funds to pursue living/schooling post-PC in the form of a $6,000 grant
E) Will pay off a bit of my student loans.
F) Helping people and all that stuff

Now I'm not sure of the, how do you say, ethnocentricism involved with peace corps. I know that during the 70's they totally fucked up a section of Vietnamese rice farmers due to their preoccupation with western standards of progress and lack of foresight of the local cultural practices.
A little more research will be required on my part so that I may be assured I'm not participating in the rampant globalization of western values and practices hence my tentative conclusion. By-and-large, however, it seems to be a fitting deal that I can't seem to find many downsides of other than being separated from friends and family for 27 months. My "limited" Spanish will come in handy as well and hopefully I'll be placed somewhere sweet in Central/South America.

So those are my semi-goals/plans for the near/distant future. And if your mind can't handle all that text or desire a break from the dull thing we call reading, may you indulge in this wonderful media distraction:

<lj-embed id="6" />

Okay, so in certain places in the world (UK) some shopkeepers have taken certain extremes to rid their shop of young folk. A certain frequency of sound that can only be heard by young ears and instantly makes them uncomfortable. I don't really support it ethically and find it kind of creepy/totalitarian but here's an article about it:
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/02/12/uk.mosquito/index.html

and if you are curious, this is an mp3 of the sound. Now, I can't personally hear it which means I must be growing old which totally sucks but if you are curious and bold enough take a listen to this thing and tell me if you can hear it or not.

http://www.jetcityorange.com/mosquito-ringtone/mosquito-ringtone.mp3

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The Lakota Indians, who gave the world legendary warriors Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, have withdrawn from treaties with the United States, leaders said Wednesday.

"We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us," long-time Indian rights activist Russell Means told a handful of reporters and a delegation from the Bolivian embassy, gathered in a church in a run-down neighborhood of Washington for a news conference.

A delegation of Lakota leaders delivered a message to the State Department on Monday, announcing they were unilaterally withdrawing from treaties they signed with the federal government of the United States, some of them more than 150 years old.

They also visited the Bolivian, Chilean, South African and Venezuelan embassies, and will continue on their diplomatic mission and take it overseas in the coming weeks and months, they told the news conference.

Lakota country includes parts of the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.

The new country would issue its own passports and driving licences, and living there would be tax-free -- provided residents renounce their US citizenship, Means said.

The treaties signed with the United States are merely "worthless words on worthless paper," the Lakota freedom activists say on their website.

The treaties have been "repeatedly violated in order to steal our culture, our land and our ability to maintain our way of life," the reborn freedom movement says.

Withdrawing from the treaties was entirely legal, Means said.

"This is according to the laws of the United States, specifically article six of the constitution," which states that treaties are the supreme law of the land, he said.

"It is also within the laws on treaties passed at the Vienna Convention and put into effect by the US and the rest of the international community in 1980. We are legally within our rights to be free and independent," said Means.

The Lakota relaunched their journey to freedom in 1974, when they drafted a declaration of continuing independence -- an overt play on the title of the United States' Declaration of Independence from England.

Thirty-three years have elapsed since then because "it takes critical mass to combat colonialism and we wanted to make sure that all our ducks were in a row," Means said.

One duck moved into place in September, when the United Nations adopted a non-binding declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples -- despite opposition from the United States, which said it clashed with its own laws.

"We have 33 treaties with the United States that they have not lived by. They continue to take our land, our water, our children," Phyllis Young, who helped organize the first international conference on indigenous rights in Geneva in 1977, told the news conference.

The US "annexation" of native American land has resulted in once proud tribes such as the Lakota becoming mere "facsimiles of white people," said Means.

Oppression at the hands of the US government has taken its toll on the Lakota, whose men have one of the shortest life expectancies -- less than 44 years -- in the world.

Lakota teen suicides are 150 percent above the norm for the United States; infant mortality is five times higher than the US average; and unemployment is rife, according to the Lakota freedom movement's website.

"Our people want to live, not just survive or crawl and be mascots," said Young.

"We are not trying to embarrass the United States. We are here to continue the struggle for our children and grandchildren," she said, predicting that the battle would not be won in her lifetime.

http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5iVC1KMTOgwiSoMQyT2LwZc9HyAgA
